What is SERS spectroscopy?

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) uses light to measure the vibrations of molecules near a gold-nanoparticle sensor. The nanoparticles amplify the weak Raman signal by orders of magnitude. Digitizing that signal lets software compare it against a database of known spectral signatures to identify what is in the fluid.

How does MobileSense work?

High-speed electronics generate optical signals that illuminate the sample fluid, and the system records the optical response. Each measurement is analyzed automatically and can be uploaded to the cloud for aggregate analysis.

What data is collected?

MobileSense records physical and chemical information from each sample: volume, turbidity, color, conductivity and the chemical (SERS) spectrum.

How much fluid is required?

The system performs best with sample volumes of 80 mL or more. Samples can be diluted to meet the volume requirement, and the instrument can be customized for smaller volumes.

Does it need test strips or reagents?

No. MobileSense uses a continuous-measurement approach, so there are no single-use kits or disposables to buy or throw away.

Which operating systems does the capture software support?

MobileSense Capture runs on macOS today. Contact us for Linux and Windows builds.
